I Am My Biggest Inspiration!

Often times we feel worthless and insignificant when we analyze the circumstances in our lives and how people always disappoint us at every step of our existence. Feeling distressed and miserable is not a lack of ‘Iman’ as many would point out. To be human, to feel human-like emotions, to cry, to be anxious, to worry, to be disappointed and to feel abundant grievance shows that we still have a human heart that is capable of feeling certain sentiments and there is nothing wrong in that. Do not go on a guilt trip just because someone shames you to feel certain emotions. It is your right and the ultimate substantiation of your survival that you have a heart that not only beats to the monotonous rhythm of everyday madness; but also smiles when it is happy and bleeds when it is sad. That makes you a perfect human being with feelings, emotions and outlook. What is not okay is too much lingering of those emotions in your mind that could make your physical and mental health take a toll.

Validate how you feel and think about the ways of overcoming those feelings.

  • Look around

Take inspiration from little things like nature, kids or anything. You would feel the presence of Allah in those things. World is vast but life is very short which is a reality. Never ever take it for granted.

  • Beauty lies within you

Look at yourself in the mirror and say beautiful things to yourself. You have some really good qualities in you that make you a unique individual.

  • Be human

As simple as it sounds, it is definitely not easy to do. We are so engrossed in being perfect in this lunatic world that we often forget that perfection is just a myth and even if you try to excel in every possible thing you can, there will always be someone who is better looking, richer, smarter or more pious than you. In the race of attaining perfectionism and glory, we often overlook our unique selves and always try to be like someone thereby losing our originality. This leads to an identity crisis, frustration and a discontented attitude.

  • Do yourself a favor. Break those toxic ties

Sometimes you have to let people go, not because you don’t love them, but because they hinder your growth by making you suffer and treating you with injustice and immorality. It is hard to cut ties but it is extremely essential to move ahead in the journey of life where your soul needs compassion, kindness and empathy.

  • Develop progressive habits

Do things that feed your soul, body and mind in a constructive way. You do not want pessimism to ruin your mindset ultimately ruining the philosophy of your life. Your purpose in life (which is beyond the materialistic state of mind) should always be apparent to you. The clarity in your thoughts, poise in your actions and a progressive mindset can only help you to shatter the barriers within you.

Before looking for inspiration around and within you, try to be more accepting to your own self. Ask yourself every day, “How kind am I to my own self?” Before showing compassion to other beings, ask yourself if you offer adequate gratification to your own self.

World is a blank canvas and you are the artist of your life patterns. Do not give that power to anybody else. Own it, accept it and live your life on what our religion has prescribed (through Quran and Sunnah) and not the ideology that society and culture supply us with. You are an inspiration for yourself and the generation next. Be the leading example that is kind, generous, compassionate but at the same time confident, fearless and an individual who makes mistakes. We do not want to be perfect, we want to be a flawed person, wanting to learn and be better every day and not repeating the patterns for the sake of our own selves and the real world that still exists.
