What is our worth?

It is exhausting to make an identity in this overwhelmingly competent world. Content bombardment often overpowers our true individuality and makes us forget our whole and sole purpose in life. Never has information been so accessible with so many subjects that are talked about and discussed today, we overlook what our religion actually preaches and how important is deen in our life.

In proving others that we are better than them, or we belong from a certain family or caste, we try to always portray that we are the superior ones, forgetting that men and women will not be judged on the basis of their status and families in this world. These are the diversions in the faith of a believer that makes him think that religion is weighed on a scale of materialistic assets and family names.

Globalization today is beyond incredible technology and scientific innovations. We are exposed today with so many concepts that baffles our naive minds, and here it is that we need a guiding light and a source of inspiration in the form of noble Quran and the teachings of our beloved Prophet (s.a.w).

We are constantly running in a race of despair where at the end of the tunnel, there is definitely no light. Our miscellaneous efforts of juggling things and pleasing people are of no use if materialistic gains are the intentions for the same. Are we trying to be better than others or are we trying to make ourselves better each day? Are we trying to be known for what we have achieved so far or are we concentrating on following the path of morality to achieve the final purpose of our lives?

Women today are constantly fed with ideas that they are capable of doing everything what a man can do and most of us do live in a bubble of forged emotions, but the truth is that men and women have their own individual roles to play in the society and both are wonderful in their own ways. Then why do we need to adopt what others do? Why don’t we see ourselves as unique individuals with special gifts from the Almighty.

We don’t need to become like somebody to get acceptance. We are blessed in our own ways in the world where there should be no exterior competitiveness or fear of losing one’s identity.

Life is not going to be the same. People do change with time and so do their thoughts. What doesn’t change is the fact that we are beyond the worldly acquisitions and our worth is more than what is derived in media and magazines. Superiority should be reflected in one’s thoughts and the way he perceives life, instead of how many gadgets he owns and how influential he is. Every single thing that exists today is just like a floating mirror till the replication has quality and insight within the sole. Our purpose in this world is known to us, but we often disremember it inspite of praying for it in every salah (sirat-ul-mustaqim).

Be mindful of the truth and keep your efforts persistent. Know what your real worth is. Is it only about dressing up and attending gatherings? Is it only about expensive holidays? Is it only about impressing people? If our life is all about this, then think about the real purpose of this life, attach yourself to the divine call and make an impact on people that would please Allah.
