Parenthood is such a phenomenal journey of learning, sharing and exploring new things every day. Adulthood is just an extension of childhood. Then comes marriage; which is a phase where we actually realize that the world is indeed a serious place to be and commitment is the rightful key. But parenthood is a diversion from that straight predictable path where our dreams and aspirations are not our own anymore. Life is all about ‘give and take’ relationship and parenthood is more of a giving one and that’s why it is such a unique phase in a person’s life.
Never do we realize that each day after becoming a parent, we are on a lifelong journey of discovering new emotions and ideas; the ones that are attached to an integral part of our heart. We all know what parents do and are capable of doing for their children, but we never talk about how a child after coming into his parents’ life makes their existence so special.
- Children are a driving force for so many parents to make them work extra hard in order to provide for their children. Children constantly keep us on our toes which makes us self-sufficient, independent and financially stable (of course we have to think about paying the huge bills at the end of the day).
- The Internet has surely entered our lives 2 decades ago but the knowledge was imperative before the computer age too; the sources were different for sure but gaining knowledge was still feasible. Children are and have always been a great source of knowledge for parents. Every day is a journey of impactful awareness (obviously with some tantrums and backaches).
- Forgive and forget is a great lesson that children teach us. No matter how badly the kids fight, they always end up playing together and forgetting what made them cry before. This is such an exceptional thing and we as adults along with other characteristics need to incur this memo as well.
- Money does not buy you happiness. Children very well understand that and for them, the biggest dynamic is having some really good ‘quality time’. We as adults engrossed in the midst of daily chores, socializing and other worldly affairs have forgotten what enjoyment is all about.
- Life is a hustle, especially for parents of this generation. Children are like a glaring silence in the deafening ocean. Ups and downs are a part of our lives; children definitely add a pinch of gist in them.
Parenthood gives us an experience of lifetime and it is definitely a privilege to have a family and most importantly children. Children make our cluttered worlds more broad-minded and we start thinking in a bigger picture after becoming parents.
Every seed feels like a full-grown fruit, every moment feels like a lifetime and every experience feels like a full-fledged responsibility. But amidst all these duties and responsibilities, there lies a hardcore lesson; to have an ‘unconditional love’ in our hearts. This is the most divine and cherished emotion a person can feel which makes us question ourselves- ‘Do we teach children or children teach us?
